Designing and building form a complex process that involves an incredible amount of hard work, collaboration and dedication. Important projects managed by Blue Projects for several of the world’s leading blue chip companies couldn’t have been successfully carried out without using a powerful and modern tool – BIM.

Among the advanced technologies that Blue Projects is using, Building Information Modelling (BIM) has proven to be a useful tool in its projects. BIM is a sum of elements which define a building throughout the construction phases. Furthermore, it is a powerful analysis and design tool which we are using to deliver accurate, flexible and comprehensive design.

The solutions offered by BIM technology allow us to explore and assess a project’s constructability prior to the building phase, visualize construction processes through 4D simulation and clash detection, improve cost reliability, increase coordination between stakeholders throughout the design and construction process, and better predict, manage and communicate project outcomes.

Blue Projects Country Manager Romania, Chris Lewis, admits that having the opportunity to upgrade from working in 2D to working in BIM has been a great help, in many aspects of team and project work. “The first aspect is time-saving; the process of generating drawings, bills of quantities and documents has reduced significantly. The second, and most important aspect, is the fact that BIM allows its users to have more control over the building model and implement changes really fast. In this way, our teams can coordinate better with other specialties. The human-error factor has been considerably diminished.”

Blue Projects clients, from all the sectors, have been particularly impressed with our quick ability to adjust or redesign a model with less effort. Furthermore, the BIM model always remains updated and any change is visible in all views and schedules.

Pawel Szalkowski, the Design Team Leader of Warsaw Office, has also confessed that even though the process of implementing BIM software for all disciplines (Architecture/ Structure/ MEP/ Process Engineering) has been long, the results are visible and remarkable. “The significant reduction of design man-hours in all stages of design, as well as the better co-ordination between disciplines, the easy detection of clashes, the easy implementation of changes and the updates on integrated multi-discipline model have helped us keep our clients satisfied”.
