Cluj – Process Automation Engineer

Blue Projects is currently looking to enlarge its team with a Process Automation Engineer to be based in Cluj-Napoca. A great engineer is creative, can think of new and innovative ways to develop new systems and make existing things work more efficiently, and he is willing travel to construction sites nationally internationally as and when required.


  • Design, development and installation supervision for medium/low voltage electrical systems (Power Distribution, Building electrical systems, low current systems)
  • Reviewing the project specifications to define optimal solution for power distribution, process control requirements, instrument lists, electrical cable lists, IO lists
  • Propose technical solutions for integrated control systems, industrial network architecture and layout, interfaces between process industrial equipment and DCS/Central Control Room
  • Preparation and development of specifications for electrical tendering purposes
  • Define electrical consumer lists for projects, issue design specific calculations for electrical utilities, issue conceptual and detailed design for electrical distribution and control panels
  • Investigate customer requirements and recommend options and optimal technical solutions for implementation
  • Plan layout of electric power rooms, distribution lines and sub-stations
  • Design cable routing and cable trays in accordance with project specifications and customer approved electrical drawings
  • Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software to perform design engineering tasks
  • Produce technical as built drawings
  • Preparing project documentation, electrical drawings, writing reports and sustaining presentations.
  • Compile data and write reports on existing and potential engineering studies and projects
  • Conducting site surveys to identify and correct power and control system problems
  • Estimating project costs and time frames
  • Monitor quality and conformity of all electrical materials and equipment supplied, ensure effective and correct installation of electrical systems and subsystems
  • Ensure conformity to design specifications, project local regulations and norms, EU and/or international standards on electrical switchgear, installations and safety (IEC standards, EMC directive, ATEX, …)
  • Ensure safety measures and quality control regulations are met on the project site
  • Ensure conformity of electrical equipment, systems and installation to process specific rules (e.g. Food Safety, ATEX Directive)
  • Ensure all project deliverables are met within client requirement and according to design and specifications
  • Liaise with contractors on installation schedule, adjust and communicate milestone dates, close follow-up and oversight
  • Propose technical solutions for installation problems, discuss in meetings and obtain approvals from the client on implementation, liaise with the client on resolving contractual problems
  • Permanent follow-up on project electrical site installation, progress tracking and reporting to the client
  • Ensure budget and on-time delivery of electrical systems and subsystems by keeping close relationship with contractors, organizing meetings with vendors for clarifying interfaces, installations problems, progress tracking, resource allocation and administration
  • Commissioning projects, designing and conducting tests, qualifying the final system
  • Recording, analyzing and interpreting test data.
  • Proposing modifications and retesting systems.
  • Providing support in troubleshooting of manufacturing processing, packaging and material handling equipment.
  • Developing and implementing individual improvement projects, to improve performance, quality or cost effectiveness
  • Liaising with the internal design team / third parties design teams



  • Advanced Diploma of Engineering or equivalent (Automation/Robotics / Electrical preferred)
  • Electrical Design Software knowledge: EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical
  • Strong knowledge of the electrotechnical concepts
  • Excellent knowledge of Electrical Engineering
  • Knowledge of electrical power and control industry norms and standards
  • Strong interpersonal and decision taking skills
  • Analytical skills and result-oriented
  • Experience with multidisciplinary coordination
  • Experience with process automation and control
  • Proficient in the use of 2D and 3D CAD systems
  • Good English speaking and writing skills
  • Minimum 3 years in a similar position
  • Site experience in an Electrical/ Process Automation Engineer role
  • Experience with another international project management company advantageous
