What qualities would the ideal candidate possess?

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required;
• Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is preferred with emphasis on design of structural steel and reinforced concrete structures.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Proficient written and spoken English skills, minimum B2 level
• Experience with Prestressed Concrete Design
• Excellent knowledge of SAP2000
• Working knowledge of AutoCad and MS Office Software
• Knowledge of the international standards and codes AISC, ACI, ASCE-7, Eurocodes, TS and TBDY
• Strong oral and written communication skills to interface with clients and project team. Written communication skills to prepare clear, concise, and professional reports and correspondence.
• Responsible, organized, and dedicated team player
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
• The ability to prioritize and multi-task, particularly when working to tight deadlines
• No restriction with travel and fieldwork: International travel and fieldwork may be required at times in multi-week increments.

Other Qualifications (preferred but not mandatory)

• Demonstrated experience working in a multidisciplinary engineering office.
• Experience with constructability and skills to anticipate problems in implementation of design when applied to field conditions. Skills to recommend alternate approaches to eliminate such problems.
• Experience to manage workload and prioritize between projects, adapt to shifting priorities and respond to emergencies in a calm and professional manner.
• Project management skills to meet quality, budget, planning and safety requirements
• Knowledge of Etabs, Safe, Idea Statica, Tekla Structures, Revit, SCIA
• Ability to follow the drafting process, give instructions and, control drawings

What are the responsibilities?

• Perform structural calculations in accordance with international codes and standards
• Use available structural computer programs to enhance productivity and verify results with manual checks
• Prepare and check structural reports, and provide design input for the drawings
• Perform reviews and provide comments on structural drawings, 3D models and vendor documents
• Interface with project stakeholders including other disciplines, Clients, Vendors and Subcontractors on technical project issues
• Participate in design reviews
• Prepare technical specifications and MTOs
• Prepare material requisition, subcontract scope of work and perform technical bid evaluation
• Develop work-hour estimates as well as engineering and design schedules
• Review shop drawing submittals to assure design intent is met.
• Identify potential changes and communicate to the Manager of Structural Engineering and Project Manager
• Monitoring the projects’ structural engineering progress, schedule and track manhours against budget
• Preparing and delivering technical presentations.
• Provide input for progress and planning meetings
• Mentor less experienced engineers
• Conduct field measuring and checking at construction site to verify existing conditions
• Maintain project files containing project calculations, correspondence, appropriate reference material, and other items
• Provide technical input for estimates for project work scopes
