HSE Manager

Role Overview: The Project EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) Manager will act as the main Project EHS Representative, overseeing works and liaising with Contractors & the Project Management Team (PMT) to ensure the development and compliance of onsite safety procedures & methodologies. The ideal candidate will lead by example to foster a strong safety culture on site.
Main Responsibilities:
- Review & Develop Procedures: Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable EHS regulations and organizational standards. This includes:
- EHS Plan
- Method Statement
- Pre Job Hazard-Analysis
- Lifting Plans (Including Critical)
- Traffic & Pedestrian Programs
- Waste Management
- LOTO (Lock Out & Tagout)
- Work Permits
- Safety Audits & Inspections: Conduct safety audits and workplace inspections to verify compliance with EHS procedures. (*Enablon experience will be considered an asset.)
- Identify & Correct EHS Issues: Identify existing and potential EHS problems and assist in developing corrective measures.
- Incident & Accident Investigations: Support investigations into incidents and accidents.
- Field Review: Conduct daily reviews of Permits to Work, Method Statements, and Pre Job-Safety Analysis to ensure compliance during execution. Update documents as necessary.
- Project Meetings: Participate in relevant project meetings, including those with subcontractors.
- Enforce Compliance: Report and enforce the Construction Safety Toolbox Program.
- Certifications Compliance: Ensure project workforce possesses applicable EHS certifications before starting any activity.
- Emergency Response Lead: Maintain clear knowledge of project emergency scenarios, routes, and 1st Aid logistics.
- Safety Induction: Ensure all workforce members undergo Project Safety Induction on the first project day and maintain historical records.
- Field Presence: Maintain significant field presence, especially during ongoing activities, to perform inspections and checks.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in EHS regulated industrial environments (preferably Construction Projects, Oil & Gas).
- Advantage for candidates with “Ingenieur Environnement et Risques Industriels” or Bac+5 (Programme Manager des Risques – QHSE).
- Familiarity with standard EHS procedures and methodologies (EHS Plan, Work Permits, Method Statement, Pre Job Hazard-Analysis, Emergency Response, etc.).
- Ability to balance a lead role with necessary field presence, particularly during high-risk activities.
Preferred Certifications & Trainings:
- Advanced Scaffolding Inspection & Erection Training
- Working at Height training
- Manual Handling training
- Valid CCNSG Safety Passport or Construction Safety Competence Scheme (CSCS) card
- EHS Training such as IOSH Managing Safely
Language Requirements:
- Fluent in English & French (Written & Spoken)
