Packing and Automation Engineer

Key Responsibilities:
- Packaging Systems Design & Implementation: Design, develop, and implement automated packaging systems tailored to client needs, ensuring efficiency and optimization of packaging lines.
- Packing Line Integration: Lead the integration of packing equipment (e.g., conveyors, robotics, sealing machines) with automation platforms (PLCs, SCADA systems) to ensure seamless operations.
- Equipment Commissioning & Testing: Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of packing and automation equipment, ensuring all systems meet functional and safety requirements.
- Quality and Compliance Oversight: Ensure packaging equipment and systems comply with both regulatory standards and client specifications, focusing on product quality and system reliability.
- Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Provide on-site support for troubleshooting packing automation systems, reducing downtime and improving equipment performance.
- Process Optimization: Analyze and improve existing packing processes, implementing automation solutions that enhance speed, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.
- Vendor & Contractor Management: Collaborate with equipment vendors and contractors, managing timelines, budgets, and quality of the work during the installation phase.
- Compliance with Safety and Environmental Regulations: Ensure all packing automation systems adhere to safety standards and environmental regulations, minimizing risks during project execution.
- Training & Documentation: Develop training programs for operational staff, ensuring smooth handover and effective use of packaging systems, while maintaining thorough documentation for reference.
- Progress Reporting: Regularly update project stakeholders on the progress of packing system installations, troubleshooting efforts, and overall project milestones.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical / Automation Engineering (or related fields such as Control Systems, Mechatronics, or Packaging Engineering).
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in developing and commissioning packaging automation systems and process control applications.
- Expertise in packaging line automation, DCS/PLC architecture, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of packaging machinery (e.g., conveyors, fillers, wrappers) and integration with automation systems.
- Hands-on experience with PLCs, DCSs, SCADA, and communication protocols (Modbus, OPC, Profibus, Ethernet IP).
- Proficiency in writing test plans, user requirements, and functional design specifications.
- Advanced proficiency in English (additional languages a plus).
- Strong technical communication skills and knowledge of automation-related codes (IEC 61131).
- Familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and high hazard processes.
- Experience with corporate ERP integration platforms and MES/IT systems.
- Willingness to relocate to project sites in the UK as required.
