Looking towards the future: Blue Projects experience with hydrogen projects

2023-06-13

What is green hydrogen?

Green hydrogen is hydrogen that is produced using an electrolyze, powered by renewable energy, such as wind, solar, hydraulic or biomass plant. From an electrochemical reaction, the electrolyze will split water into dihydrogen and dioxygen and produce hydrogen. The mode of production is clean and does not produce carbon.

Hydrogen is a promising alternative to fossil fuels, as it produces zero carbon emissions when burned.

Green hydrogen’s growing importance

Hydrogen is in demand nowadays and is seen as the future of green energy, as well as the key to significantly lowering carbon dioxide emissions and mitigating the impacts of global warming.

Supplying hydrogen to industrial users is now a major business around the world.

As part of the global strategy to completely decarbonize its industry, hydrogen is considered a vital resource to attaining a cleaner and sustainable energy system.

With the support of public and private sector, the project was born in 2020 with the aim of creating a hydrogen-based economy. In addition to funding, the public sector has developed and issued policies and strategies that form the guidelines to achieve the target of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Now, in 2023 we can see that the trend of transitioning to hydrogen is gaining momentum in the mentioned region through the project and, we are proud to announce, that Blue Projects has been given the opportunity to play an important role in supporting one of the most important names in the food manufacturing industry in the area to switch from natural gas to hydrogen.

As a result, we are currently providing project management services for a public-sector-funded hydrogen action. This action entails constructing and installing the necessary infrastructure and equipment within the plant to fuel the cooking ovens with hydrogen in order to conclude that by changing the kind of fuel, the product quality is maintained.

Blue Projects is ensuring that the design is developed and implemented in line with the current legislation, safety and environmental safety requirements and within the timeframe agreed with the public sector.

There are various benefits that hydrogen is associated with and the most important to be mentioned are:

  • By lowering the carbon emissions, we will witness positive changes in the environment and thus climate change will be brought to a halt
  • Building the infrastructure for production, distribution and storage of hydrogen will create new job opportunities and will substantially improve the economy.
  • Increased energy efficiency compared to fossil fuels.
  • Once hydrogen is readily available in a certain area, that area will become self-sufficient in terms of energy, reducing dependence on imported energy sources.
  • Positive health benefits for workers and surrounding communities due to improved air quality

More and more countries are expected to take part in the global decarbonization program in the near future which will transform the world and make it a better place for the generations to come.
