Overview

Blue Projects was appointed by ROCKWOOL to assist in building their first factory in Romania, a 50-million Euro development, located in Ploiesti West Industrial Park in Aricestii Rahtivani, Prahova County. Between February 2018 and November 2019, we provided tendering assistance, project management and construction management services.

The factory is located on a 30-ha plot, having a floor area of 13,000 sqm and a production capacity of 45,000 tons/ year – the largest mineral wool manufacturing facility in Romania. Most of the raw material will be sourced locally, Romania having an abundance of basalt – the natural volcanic rock used to manufacture mineral wool. The factory will be delivering most of its production on the local market, one of the largest in Europe for insulation materials. About 150 direct jobs have been created for the local community, with another 300 indirect jobs in services and logistics.
