Overview

Blue Projects provided engineering, procurement and construction management services for Kellogg largest CAPEX investment of the past 15 years, carried out at their factory in Kutno, Poland. The Carolus project involved the installation of two high-speed Pringles chips production lines in a new building of 14,500 m2.

Blue Projects delivered the detailed building design in just 3 months and managed the construction in 13.5 months compared to the initial estimate of 18 months. All this has been achieved by the coordinated work of the client’s engineering center in Belgium and Blue Projects engineering team in Romania, for a project located in Poland.

During Carolus project, Blue Projects managed a full list of global suppliers and vendors, while ensuring their compliance with Polish requirements and qualifications. The team compiled almost 90 vendors into a very tight space; they had to deliver a complete project within 13.5 months from groundbreaking all the way to saleable production.

By applying the lean management principles, we managed to reduce the waste of materials, time and effort both during the tender and construction phases, particularly for ‘area-based’ vendor packages. We were also able to rapidly scale and optimize the team depending on the project phases, thanks to our internal organization and integrated engineering teams for process, packing and civils.

“In project management you will always encounter challenging moments, having that said it was a pleasure to work with Blue Projects. I feel grateful for the efforts they made in order to deliver a good result in a timely manner. As a result our collaboration turned into a  durable partnership.”
