Overview

Ursus Brewery, located in Buzau, Romania along with the one in Timisoara was one of the projects managed by Blue Projects for SAB Miller who bought URSUS production facilities in 1996.

The project with an investment value of over 40M Euro involved the expansion and modernization of the production facilities and installation of equipment for the manufacture of new types of beer such as Redd’s and Ursus alcohol free.

Challenge

One of the project’s challenges was dealing with a limited execution timeline for the extension and upgrade of the existing factory of Ursus. As construction delays result in extended overhead costs and puts a crunch on critical cash flow, it was a stringent matter that Blue Projects applied a very efficient time management under the construction management scope which we were responsible of.

Our Solution

Blue Projects’ construction management team applied a proactive rather than reactive control which was the key to staying on schedule. Knowing that time is essential we managed and mitigated these different situation such as weather, lower productivity than anticipated, delivery problems, resource constraints, changes in scope and differing site conditions. This was possible through a careful consideration of the schedule prior to starting the work and by providing a structured approach to planning.
